Stipe Pletikosa

Croatia keeper Stipe Pletikosa will spend the next week training with Tottenham and hopes to secure a season-long loan with the north London club.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is keen to sign another quality keeper and give some fierce competition to Heurelho Gomes and Carlo Cudicini.

Pletikosa, 31, has been a long-term target for Redknapp, but there have been concerns over his fitness as he suffers with a long-term knee problem.

But Redknapp is determined to land his signature and hopes the Spartak Moscow keeper will prove he is back to his best when he spends the next few days training with the Tottenham first-team squad.

Redknapp said: "Pletikosa is here with us. He has had a bad knee and will spend a week with us training to see how his knee is. We were looking to take him on loan.

"He is a Croatian national keeper and is a good keeper. We will just see how his knee is. He had a big operation but he feels okay.

"We want to have a look at him for a week and then see if we take him on loan for the season. You need three experienced keepers now."
