Carlo Cudicini believes former club Tottenham’s current No.1 Hugo Lloris is the prime candidate to take over from David De Gea at Manchester United.
The Spaniard is widely expected to return to Madrid with Real, having played for Atletico prior to moving to Old Trafford, in order to be closer to his family.
And former Spurs stopper Cudicini says, although there are other choices, Lloris is the obvious man to replace the 24-year-old, after Petr Cech completed his move to Arsenal on Monday.
“There are rumours about Hugo Lloris going there,” the Italian told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show.
“Obviously, Manchester United are a top club and top clubs want a top goalkeeper and Hugo is definitely up there.
“It is tough, I would actually have expected Manchester United to be in the running to get Petr Cech as well.
“It is not easy and, because it is such an important position, you want to be sure. You want to make sure whoever you take is going to be there and perform for your team.
“I think Hugo Lloris could do that. Asmir Begovic is another goalkeeper that has performed very well in the past four or five seasons in the Premier League and you can place a bet on him as well.”
