Exclusive – Jose Mourinho will not give up on the title, insists former Chelsea goalkeeper

Former Chelsea goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini insists that Blues manager Jose Mourinho will not surrender the Premier League title easily despite their poor start to the season.

Chelsea have taken just four points from their opening five games, including successive defeats to Crystal Palace and Everton, and already sit 11 points adrift of runaway leaders Manchester City.

The Blues host Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Saturday lunchtime in a crucial game, and Cudicini believes Mourinho and the team still have the capacity to defend their crown.

“We all know him [Mourinho] and that’s hes not giving up yet. There’s obviously a bit of a gap to try and get back,” the 42-year-old told the Sports Breakfast.

“It’s a long season and it’s only just started, but the quicker the team responds to this start to the season, then there’s more of a chance to catch up with the other teams.”

Chelsea have an excellent recent record against the Gunners, failing to suffer a league defeat against Arsene Wenger’s side since October 2011.
