Carlo Cudicini has told talkSPORT Jose Mourinho WILL turn Chelsea’s fortunes around.

A disastrous start to the season for the Blues, which has seen them lose five of their opening ten Premier League games and crash out of the League Cup, has left Mourinho’s future at Stamford Bridge in serious doubt.

But Cudicini is urging Roman Abramovich to keep faith with the ‘Special One’, as he believes it is just a matter of time before the reigning champions rediscover their winning mentality.

Speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, the former Chelsea goalkeeper said: “It is a situation the manager has never experienced before but we know how these big managers respond to big challenges.

“He is a manager with great experience and they have players with great experience so I am sure they will be able to turn it around.

“The team is putting in very good performances, they are working hard, they just need to turn the corner. You will be able to do that with a good result maybe against a very good team or in an important game. They just need to turn that corner because the will to do that is there.

“The results are not great at the moment but he deserves time to turn things around.”

Chelsea head into this weekend’s clash with Liverpool sitting 15th in the Premier League, 11 points adrift of leaders Manchester City.

Their title hopes look to be over already, but Cudicini fully expects them to contend for a top four finish.

“I am positive that they will turn this around and start climbing the table,” added the Italian, who made 216 appearances for the club during his 10-year spell at Stamford Bridge.

“Obviously, it depends a lot on what the teams in front of Chelsea at the moment will do, but I am confident that at the end of the season they will be there fighting.”
